Gresik, April 16, 2025 — PT Alur Pelayaran Barat Surabaya (APBS) continues to strengthen its commitment to advancing education and empowering the younger generation through its “APBS Teaching” program, which this time was held at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nahdlatul Ulama (MINU) Lumpur Gresik. This initiative represents a tangible form of the company's social responsibility in the fields of education and coastal community empowerment.
Held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the event was attended by the Corporate Secretary and employees of PT APBS, teachers, and all sixth-grade students of MINU Lumpur Gresik. The event opened with remarks from both a representative of PT APBS management and the Head of MINU Lumpur Gresik, who expressed their appreciation for this educational initiative.
Lumpur Village, the location of the event, is known as a community where most residents rely on the maritime sector, particularly fishing, for their livelihood. Based on this background, the main session titled “Today’s Seafarers” was delivered directly by the Corporate Secretary of PT APBS using a grounded and motivational approach.
In the session, it was explained that the seafaring profession extends beyond fishing at sea—it also encompasses a variety of fields such as navigation, logistics, maritime technology, and shipping route management. This information is intended to broaden the students’ perspectives on the wide range of opportunities within the maritime industry.
More than just an educational session, the speaker also shared an inspiring message, encouraging students to keep learning and to dream big so they can build a brighter future and bring pride to their families. The message was delivered with empathy, recognizing that many students come from humble fishing families full of spirit and hope.
The students' enthusiasm was evident as the event continued with a fun quiz session, designed to test their understanding of the material presented. Cheers and joy filled the room as students answered questions correctly and won exciting prizes.
To further boost the students’ spirits, PT APBS distributed hampers to all participating students and provided educational support to MINU Lumpur Gresik to help improve the quality of teaching and learning at the school.
The “APBS Teaching” event concluded with a collective prayer, expressing gratitude for the success of the event and hoping that the knowledge and motivation shared would continue to grow in the hearts of the students.
With the spirit of “inspiring from an early age,” PT APBS hopes that this initiative will spark motivation among coastal youth to keep dreaming and striving to make those dreams come true. Similar programs will continue to be carried out as part of the company's long-term commitment to building a brighter future through education.
